CHAPTER SELECTS FOUR FOR YOUTH AMBASSADOR TRAINING

The Board of Directors of the New York Hudson Valley Chapter has selected four outstanding young people to attend “Youth Ambassador Leadership Training” prior to this year’s TSA national conference in April.    The four are:

·        Samantha Feig, 15, of Scarsdale

·        Julia Gottlieb, 12, of Briarcliff Manor

·        Julia Smith, 14, of Katonah

·        Benjamin Tamarin, 14, of Irvington

Youth Ambassadors are a key element of our chapter's awareness program.  Each YA is educated in the facts and myths about TS and trained to give presentations to peers, professionals and the community at large.  They attend training with their mothers, the other half of the YA team.  Afterwards, they will have their first experience as representatives of the chapter when they take the “Trip to the Hill” to Washington DC to meet their elected representatives in concert with other convention delegates.  

These four teams will be volunteering their time over the next year to speak about their experiences with TS, provide accurate information about the disorder and its symptoms, promote tolerance, dispel stereotypes and provide leadership and support to other TS youths in our chapter’s community.  It is a time-consuming role and the chapter  appreciates their contribution to its mission.
