TSA-NYHV Continues Awareness Initiatives

at SEPTO Disability Awareness Fair

 

As part of the Chapter's ongoing efforts to promote awareness of TS, board members Hava Udalevich and Jocelyn Figueroa ran an informational booth for the NYHV chapter of TSA at the Cornwall SEPTO Disability Awareness Fair on Saturday, October 1, 2011 at the Cornwall Central Middle School.  This is the second year Hava and Jocelyn tended the booth and it was a big success.  Kids went from table to table with a passport and get a stamp from each table.  When the passport was full they went to the front desk and got a prize.  Before we gave a stamp, the kids had to listen to a brief description of Tourette Syndrome.  They learned that kids with TS had Tics not Ticks (the bug), that you should treat them the same as everyone else and that it is not contagious!  There were also crafts, face painting and a blow up bouncy slide.  Fun was had by all!
