TOURETTE SYNDROME RESEARCH STUDY SEEKS PARTICIPANTS

The Tourette Syndrome Association International Consortium for Genetics (TSAICG) is collaborating with the National Institute of Neurological Diseases and Stroke on genetic studies to find chromosomes that contain the genes for TS.

They are looking to enroll 3000 participants who have Tourette in this study.  Participants must have a diagnosis of TS from a doctor and be at least 6 years old.  Those who qualify will be asked to provide a blood sample for genetic analysis.  Only one individual from any family will be accepted.

If you are interested in participating, please go to findtsgenes.org at which potential participants can register

  • Candidates will fill out an online questionnaire to determine their eligibility
  • If eligible, research assistants will guide them through the consent process
  • Blood samples can be taken at Quest Diagnostics or by the individual's doctor.
  • A mobile medical service can take blood at participants' homes
  • Ten percent of participants will also be selected for detailed follow up interviews
